Fact of the matter is, you won't get any better value than Pearl Jam as far as rock shows go. Amazing live show, long sets, great musicianship, great songs, and a lead singer who has the balls to say what he feels instead of being a dancing monkey. If you don't like that, then yeah, Pearl Jam probably isn't for you.

I saw them at Bonnaroo last year. It was a tremendous show until Eddie literally cut a song short so he could dive into a twenty minute diatribe about oil prices, taking several shots at Southerners along the way.
Good dfor Eddie that he "has the balls" to do that kind of thing, but it received a collective groan from the audience, and half his band took off until he was done. Honestly, especially at a festival like that, the classier thing to do would be to keep your mouth shut and realize that people didn't pay upwards of $700 to hear you rant.
It pisses me off to no end when musicians pull that crap. If that's what you're going to do at your show, then advertise it ahead of time as "Eddie Vedder's Stump Speech" and see how many people shell out the coin for it.
EDIT: And I write all of this as a pretty big Pearl Jam honk.
