I got this in an email today, skimmed the Fraser report. Pretty much says what everyone knows already in downtown Calgary but that's okay. We all know that the province's power and wealth stems from the oil and gas resources it harvests, and we all know there's a cyclical lag between what goes on downtown, out to the field, into the economy, and trickles down to everyone. Alberta was cookin', was a decent place to invest, then people (governments) get greedy, want more, they change stuff and ruin it, forcing companies and businesses elsewhere, only to change it back in a few years.
Alberta will be back sometime, let's just hope our rusted infrastructure holds up.
Oh no wait... it isn't a renewable resource. And we've drained the hell out of the province? Oh well, there's always........... farming... I guess. Biting the hand that feeds you. Do we need more hospitals? More roads? More schools? Less debt? More anything? Stelmach shrunk the size of the pie, he didn't cut into a bigger piece.
This isn't industry whining, this is called business, which means follow the money. Otherwise, you don't get these people called investors, and you go out of business. Meanwhile, if prices remain this despicable on natural gas, we'll see the layoff train another lap or two. But Ed's cool, I guess.
