First off use the disk utility in your Utilities folder and repair anything that needs repairing
If you have any third-party stuff installed on safari 4, uninstall it.

Trash the preference file (com.apple.safari.plist) and empty the trash so it's gone. click restart Safari.

If that does not work it is a java plug in that is probably causing it, you may have to delete it and re-install it. There was an update today for Safari as well so look for that.
