As a parent, I find the notion that any parent would let their child spend the night with Michael Jackson to be beyond naive. Maybe the type of parent that would do that, would take the 20 million.

As Devil's advocate, what is harder on the child, putting them through a trial that (as evidenced later) they probably aren't going to win against a guy who can buy all the best lawyers in the world, or taking some satisfaction in the fact that they cost him a lot of money, and the child will have everything he needs for life?

There is a reason why lots of these cases don't get prosecuted, they are hard to win, and hard on the child.
