I played 2X yesterday,
1st 11:30 - 2:15. Had to wait behind 4somes for a few holes twice in the game, before they let me through. was aggravating.
2nd 2:30 - 6:30. Started out slow, and I joined a 2some ahead of me, but things got rolling after awhile. 4 hours, can't complain about on a fairly busy day.
At the end of the day, I was reading a memo or whatever above the urinal about pace of play. It was really good and addressed the thought of, "I paid good money to play here, I'll take as much time as I want and enjoy myself". It then went on to talk about golf etiquette concerning pace of play, and tips how to speed up your game. Pretty basic stuff, choose your club before your shot, don't walk back and forth to your cart, ready putt etc.
At the end of it, it was basically saying, partly the speed of play dictates, the cost of the game. If everyone just took their time, prices would go up as less people would be able to play. If everyone played in less than 4 1/2 hours at 7 minute intervals, prices could be kept under control. Makes sense to me.
So think about that, the next time you're a hole behind the group in front of you. You are driving up the costs to play.
