I don't even know what "true music" means (someone else said it, so I quoted it). I just find it bizarre that someone would think to be a "true" music fan, that you should like Michael Jackson (or any particular pop artist for that matter). There is very little depth to the music or lyrics so I find it strange to judge someone as a "true" fan based on whether they like his music or not. Honestly, I bet even most Jackson fans like other artists because the offer more musical depth or insightful lyrics.

And for the record (Flip), I don't like Coldplay. I have only ever heard maybe 2 or 3 of their songs. I tolerate Radiohead, but don't own any of their music.

As for what music I like... well, I "like" whatever makes me feel good... so any genre. I even like some pop music, but I can't appreciate it much on a fundamental level. Music that I truely appreciate usually has more of a blues or psychadelic aspect. Less crotch grabbing, side show dancers, a what have you. When I listen to music, I'd rather be submersed in it than be distracted by a spectacle. Does anyone really submerse themselves into Michal Jackson's music? Can anyone listen to it for hours, and for those hours, nothing else exists but the music? Or how about Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and pretty much any other pop musician on the planet? I just can't see it.
