What I'm looking for is for my movies, music, books and TV to take me away for the length of the time I'm enjoying them.

If that makes me dumber then you or too low brow to be a useful human, well too bad, because I'm in the majority, and the reason there are movies made like this is because people enjoy them for what they are.

Now excuse me, I have to finish my BLL and then hop into my car and blast some Nickleback on the way to see Transformers
So let me get this straight. Your life is too stressful and complicated that you can't watch movies that have any semblance of plot, characterization, story or any other pieces of a film that make it good. And yet clearly debating endlessly on the internet defending your (IMO poor) taste in movies isn't stressful?

Perhaps if you stopped getting stressed on CP, you'd be able to appreciate good movies.

Seriously though, I don't buy the whole "my life is too stressful, I need dumb movies" argument. I watch a lot of movies and they are movies that I consider good, but I certainly don't watch The Passion of the Christ for fun. I don't think anyone does. I actually find bad movies a hell of a lot more stressful than good ones.

Sure it may be stressful if you're watching Schindler's List, the Reader and Revolutionary Road every second day but I certainly wouldn't call a movie like T2 to be taxing on my intellect or so deep I get stressed.

I don't think anyone here is saying all action movies have to be Best Picture winners, just don't be so bad they get nominated for the Razzies (sp?) every single year. Let movies like Blade, T2, TDK, Iron Man, Die Hard etc be the benchmark not Catwoman (way bad) or Schindler's List (way deep).

The common argument of the stupid movie supporters seems to be that they don't need good movies. Great, a lot of people don't need good movies. But wouldn't it be nice if they were good movies?

Defending liking them is one thing, but to insinuate that dumb movies are good doesn't make any sense at all. To say that you can tolerate a stupid and fun movie maybe, but don't lie and say you'd rather have the movie be fun and stupid than fun and good.
