It sure seems like it's no lose until Shaq gets injured.

Shaq does not solve any of their problems. They were burned by the pick and roll, which Shaq cannot guard. If they had made it to the finals, the lakers would've picked them apart with the high post scoring from Gasol, which Shaq cannot guard either.

Seeing as the lakers shut Howard down in the finals with a variety of length, double teams, and flopping, Shaq would struggle with all three, especially the last one.

Also, we consider that Boston gets KG back next year, who is another high post player who would torch both Varejao and Shaq.

Shaq would only add to their strength - which is to dominate lesser teams. If Shaq is healthy, they should beat 26 other teams in the NBA by 20 points a game. But it does not address any of their weaknesses against the NBA's elite.
