This is such a sad situation. The unraveling of a marriage was gleefully watched by millions of people. It seemed inevitable (Kate seems like a genuinely terrible human being) but was certainly (at least partially) driven by media that are so fixated in their pursuit of headlines that they seem to forget that there are 8 children that will now be living with a single parent (until remarriage or whatever).

Divorce is common in families with "multiples" so while it is possible that it would have happened without the show and the headlines, one cannot help but be disturbed by our fascination with "reality" shows and our ability to disconnect the fact that these are real people with real lives. Jon and Kate did this showto help provide for their children but, in the end, was it really worth it? What are the long term implications for these children?

I didn't even really watch the show but it has become such a recent pop culture phenomenon that it was hard to avoid.
