So I just had an awesome vacation that included the Kootenays (specifically Upper Arrow Lake & the natural springs in the surrounding area), Whistler (visited a buddy) and Vancouver Island (Tofino, Ucluelet, Kennedy Lake) and I had a great time. Beautiful weather everywhere I went, and it seems I had a lilttle luck because apparently it rained just days prior in all those places.
I won't bore you with the details of my awesome trip because I've got a bone to pick with fataheads that bring glass bottles onto beaches & into hotsprings.
Yeah, you'd think that people in this day & age were just a little more respectful of the environment etc, but thats just simply not the case.
Because I have a dog, my awareness of broken glass may be somewhat heightened, but no more so than you young (and not so young) fathers & mothers.
Glass everywhere. I must have bent over to pick up glass at least 200 times in the last 11 days.
IT p*ssES ME OFF!
So, I've decided to boycott glass bottles for individual portions. The thing that sucks is that I prefer my beer in bottles. I'm sure many of you do too. I will pose this question: Do you consider where you are taking your bottles when purchasing?
You should. There is no excuse for showing up to the beach or a natural spring with bottles. If you were too forgetful to buy cans, the booze should stay at camp.
God knows that if I were in charge of doling out poetic justice, the bringers of bottles would bear the scars of broken glass on their feet every time they visit a beach or a spring.
