Also I admit I just get so frustrated because the non-stop pulling makes walking them completely un-enjoyable.

We've tried using treats/rewards with minimal success. Anyone have any "loose leash" tips??
I thought I had this problem licked when I bought a "gentle leader" head harness. Dog stopped pulling and I could comfortably walk him with only one hand on the leash. It goes around his muzzle and controls his head beautifully. However ...

When our dog trainer came over he commented on it. He classified it as a control tool and not a teaching tool. To prove his point he asked me if Harry was better or worse on the leash since I introduced it. I said better. He asked me to prove it by putting a standard leash on him and walk him down the block. I'll be damned if that dog didn't nearly rip my arm right off my body. Now without the gentle leader he's twice as bad as he was before, so that begs the question ... what to do when the gentle leader isn't around?

I'd share strategies but as I said in my previous post, we've only just begun. Yes I said that on purpose in the hopes of getting a very annoying song in your head.
