Lots of great advice already available here...but here are some thoughts.

You're going to need lots of chew toys...LOTS.
Puppies see the world by smelling things...they experience the world by putting whatever it is they are smelling in their mouth.

Rotate the chew toys and remember that if a puppy is chewing something he/she shouldn't...that you should be deterring him/her from doing it. Dogs for one reason or another, seem to hate citronella (the spray that you get when you peel a citrus fruit)...when my dogs were young and wanted to chew on my fingers, I covered my fingers in the stuff and they just sneezed alot when they tried to lick my fingers.

For toilet training...crane training is the best way to go; if you want your puppy to go on a specific place (ie. newspaper) you can try spraying a little bit of ammonia on it...works like a charm (for my dogs anyways).

Puppydom is a critical moment in a dog's life because that's when good/bad habits develop. Reinforce good behaviour with lots of praise, and the occasional treat. =)
When they're being bad...don't be afraid to deliver some discipline...my vet has always taught me to scruff my dogs when they're bad...they instantly submit the second I even reach for their scruff.
Scruff and muzzle...they really hate it, and will scream bloody murder the first few times you do it. But they'll get the point. =)

Not sure if my methods are going to work for you, but the board has given you lots of solid advice...so best of luck with the puppy!
