Holy crap ... some cute dogs in here. We recently (as in last night) began working with a
dog trainer. I'm new to the dog world and our dog is medium/large in size, so I devoured all the info I could get into. For the most part it was really good and I would recommend it. However, we batted the idea of hiring a trainer for far too long. Our dog isn't overly bad ... he's quite nice actually. There were some things that were just irksome though and I found them to frustrate me more and more each day. Eventually we realized that obviously there was confusion in the ranks and for our own peace of mind we called up a trainer.
After only an initial meeting of the trainer and our first session last night I can say already that I'm a little pissed we waited this long. I tried to count all the things I've been doing wrong, but as you are probably aware the human mind has trouble holding more than 7-9 things in memory at one time. Not that I was unhappy with him, but the last two weeks I've grown quite a bit closer to the dog and don't view him in the same way. I've changed my correction strategy and it's been a god send.
