A few things to consider when you're looking for cowboy boots.

1) you really do get what you pay for. I've got two pairs of custom boots from Alberta Boot company, and they are comfy as hell. Of course breaking them in is key.

2) Heel hight is key. My opinion is do not go for the full hell. The roper style boots have a much lower heel and are a lot more comfortable.

3) If you tuck your jeans into your boots you deserve to be punched in the face.

Oh and I have to agree with 4x4. I'm not a fan of the snakeskin or alligators. Bullhide is the way to go.
Of course I do have a pair that is EMU and Kangaroo, but anyone who's seen EMU (or ostritch) leather, knows that it is still VERY understated when compared to snakeskin or alligator.
