Apologies for the semi-necro bump.
I just got this message today. Doing the reboot with nothing attached or trying different AV cables did not work, so I'm now awaiting my shipping label to send this $350 piece of shoddy hardware back to them. Only had the thing 17 months too.
Seems like as they come out with newer and better consoles, they get worse at keeping them working for a long time. I still have my old NES and SNES (22 years and 18 years respectively) and those things STILL work. But, new ones can't even last 2 years? What a joke.
Had that damn Disc Read error on four different PS2s as well.
Anyway, if you have sent it in for repairs, how long did it take to get back?
