I love the "... if you don't like it, move/close the window/change your sleeping arrangements" comments.

I think 11 PM is a more than reasonable time for things to quiet down, even on a weekend. I understand people are going to have parties and such, but when you're carrying on loudly past then, I'm afraid you're being unreasonable. That being said, talking/joking around/visiting isn't anything I'd have a problem with - it's when you get drunks hooting and hollering as loudly as possible (it seems).

I just can't see how you or anyone would think it's reasonable to say to your neighbors "You're going to have to put up with no sleep X number of nights a year because I have a right to be as loud as I want at any time" ... why should I have to do that? Why should my son? Would you be happy if he woke up and was screaming because he just doesn't understand your need here, so I brought him by so you could explain? Why should I have to shell out $3000+ to get air conditioning so I can have my windows closed on a hot summer night so that your party doesn't disturb me? If it's that important to you - shouldn't you help me pay for it?

To me it boils down to this, if you want to have a party and be loud after 11PM or whatever it is, then go inside - I can have my windows open, you don't bother me, and I don't bother you. Seems like a simple solution.

That being said, I'm anticipating the "you just don't get it, you panties-twisted, no fun, unreasonable jerk" reply ... but hey.
