No way? BS straight back at ya. I've been to gift shops in monasteries where the price of a mass is advertised/marketed. You get the mass card, you want the person's name and the stamp on the card, then you cough up the coin at the cashier's desk where it is stamped to say that a mass is being said.
But let's say even if you were right and their is never any obligation.
According to their own teachings if you want the person out of purgatory you better pay for it.
