Funny, I just wore mine for a soccer game tonight as well, although it is on my left foot (thank god) and I am right footed.
Like I said before, I try to do mine up like 80%, especially the laces, and it prevents anything twisting really badly but still allows some feeling through the ankle?? I also found it took about 5 athletic events before I had kind of broken it in, especially how it felt underneath the foot (right under the heel where it cuts in?).
When I first got it and did the laces up 100%-tight it was too stiff and it was hard to moderate movements and such.
(I do laces about 80% and the straps about 90%?)
