Just to clarify, Shaw quite often seems to be offerring a free HD-PVR for switching. If they call your bluff by saying "well- you are only renting" tell them that you have a buddy with an old 4700 that you can give Shaw; as Shaw only requires a copy of your current bill and a receiver to make the swap.

I got ~$300 off my Bell 9242 by doing that. However make sure you keep a log of the calls. Record the date, time, firstname of the CSR and their employee number. Call during the day around mid-morning to get a CSR who is in Canada; not only do they know what you are talking about because they have seen the hardware, but they get paid by the hour as opposed to our overseas friends who get paid based on number of calls they handle in a day.
