If you havent read Jenny's book and dont have a child with autism that maybe you should STFU!!!

There ARE people like my self that wouldnt just wade into this kind od thread if they didnt know a thing or 2 about AUTISMS related contributing factors. I am not famous and havent written a book or think I am overly important to think that this post will be respected BUT.

This is entirely in poor taste .....this whole thread and should be closed.

you want to debate ME then PM ME and we can have this discussion if you want to be a tough person on the internet. I will quickly put you in you place.

Count on it.
I'm very sorry about your son--as a parent, I can't even imagine what that must be like. You're absolutely right that we should not be cavalier about autism, and I think your warning that this is a sensitive issue that affects people in the real world is fair and wise.

However, I don't think it's in poor taste to criticize people who want to create a link between autism and thimerasol, or autism and other vaccines, when no such link has ever been shown or documented and is in any case biologically implausible. All this does is to scapegoat the very people who can do the most to help people who suffer from autism--the medical practitioners and researchers who are trying to develop treatments for this illness, who are mostly doing it out of a sense of mission, not because they're in the pockets of "big pharma."

In fact, it's the nonseriousness of the conspiracy theorists that is truly offensive here, and merits your anger a lot more in my view. We're not talking about moon landings or JFK here--this is a real world problem, with real world effects on real people. To actively work to undermine the professionals who are doing research on it is utterly irresponsible--and that's what Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy ought to be pondering very carefully, regardless of how painful and difficult their own situations are.
