The thing that makes me think that they're for real is that they've managed to get the best record in the league without winning more than three games in a row or losing more than two. It's not like Boston who had a great 11 win stretch and otherwise have gone 11-16 and have had three 3-game losing streaks. They've consistently had good hitting and good pitching. Consistency is a great sign.
I think critics are putting too much on how the Jays perform against Boston; it's like everyone is waiting to see how the first series against Boston goes before deciding whether the season will be a success or not. But going 3-0 won't clinch anything and going 0-3 won't eliminate them from anything; especially when it looks likely Halladay won't start in either of the first two series against Boston (based on how the rotation works out).
