The thing that sounds the most fishy about all this isn't just how Mulroney accepted large sums of cash while he was lobbying on Schreiber's behalf, but that instead of creating a paper trail by putting all the money in some type of bank account, he instead opted to put it in a safety deposit box. It doesn't sound like someone who was confident that he was doing nothing wrong.
