There are scientists that would argue in "real life" that the only way it is possible to time travel, is to do it interdimensionally. This would avoid the whole grandfather paradox issues. Anyway, that all theoretical. I really enjoyed the movie. I saw it last night and I was expecting big things after seeing the trailers a while ago and all the positive hype. It didn't disappoint. Hoping for more movies in the future. Maybe a new series. I'd watch that.

Although, I should clarify about the manipulation of time is a way to travel. In fact, people who have spent significant amounts of time in space have time traveled. They spend months orbiting the earth at 17,000 mph. The faster you go, the more time slows down relative to someone else not traveling at that speed. In essence, cosmonauts and astronauts that spend months in space, have actually traveled into the future by a fraction of a second.

So there are kind of two different ideas here. Time travel to go to another time specifically in the past or future. It may not be possible to do this and stay within the same dimension. However, if you travel as near light speed, many many years would pass over on Earth for instance when you only travel for a few minutes. You would be time traveling into the future and stay within your own dimension.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I don't think warp speed is the ship moving at extreme speeds, rather, the ship is warping space around it to arrive in another place. Bending space so that you can get to a far part of it faster than light.
