I went 10 years ago for 2 months and had the Eurail unlimited flex pass, and it was the best money I ever spent.

An Australian friend of mine who was also just in Europe had an unlimited Eurail pass. With still a month to go before returning home she calculated that she had managed to accumulate 68 train rides, 2 cruises, 5 bus rides and 2 ferries on it over a four month span.
