Favre makes a bunch of sense. The Vikes do have that great running game so he doesn't need to toss the ball all the time. To me this means his arm (if it's really hanging together) is protected from overuse. He can also pick his shots when he does throw which should help reduce his turnovers.
The other good thing is he can help Jackson with his development by actually allowing him to develop instead of being tossed into the frying pan. Tavares probably needs some mentoring and while you can debate if Favre is a great mentor or not I would think Rodgers did learn a lot from him. No reason Tavares can't learn something too. Perhaps a year of not having to be the man, learning something about the game, and Jackson is ready to take over...or they are able to find a better option in a year if they think he isn't the answer.
