Look at what you need. And all the other costs that come with it such as Fuel Consumption, insurance, etc...

I would imagine the RSX will have a higher insurance than a Mazda 3. Insurance on used cars tend to be cheaper than insurance on new cars. If you are the flashy kind of guy, go with the RSX but if you are someone who is likely to end up being the DD, I call for the Mazda 3.

If you go for used, I will say this about the Mazda 3. The models from early years (04-06) are starting to show signs of rust. If you get a car from those years, make sure you inspect for both rust, especially near the wheels.

If you have enough, I'd certainly say go for new if you do the Mazda 3, go for the 2009 model that are still "new" or a demo, there's cash incentives if you decide to pay for all of it. I highly doubt Financing or leasing rates that Mazda is offering at that great.
