I know little researched info about subject matter in this area, but I feel like it may be similar to debates over traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicines. I used to think that TCM was kind of silly, and that it was ridiculous to put any stock in that over modern Western medicine. My inner monologue would quietly belittle people telling me about how good it is for you and how much better it is than Western medicine. These days though, after having lived in a place where people use TCM a lot and experiencing it for a good while I'm quite partial to using TCM for everyday sorts of illnesses. No doubt, if things get serious I'm straight onto Western meds, but I appreciate the value of TCM now and see the benefit of striking a balance in use between Western and Chinese meds. I'm not so informed, but perhaps that's the right approach here.
