Yeah, Spybot definitely works. I rotate between it, Spyware Doctor, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, Lavasoft Ad-Aware and Windows Defender for my periodical cleans.
Another good program, as long as you use it with a bit of caution, is CCleaner. It'll tidy up your temp files, internet leftovers, and registry in fairly short order. Be careful not to get too liberal with the registry deletions, though... if done wrong, they can sometimes cause system instability.
