DR - yeah, the slow food movement is a bit elitist I think - I like some of the principles about it, but how many people have the time to do that stuff every day?

Slow food is one of those ideas that sounds great--creating a more reasonable, sustainable, environmentally friendly and tastier food culture for everyone... but what makes it elitist is that it presumes mountains of excess leisure time and disposable income, which just isn't a reality for the average person.
On the other hand--some of the best restaurants I've been to are "Slow Food" movement affiliated.
