Baseball is unbelievably hardcore in the means of being told what to do in regards to training. The trainers develop their own strength training regimes and more importantly stretching. I am aware they also do this in hockey. So players who had developed their own habits will do their own strength training and stretching (ie tubing) and compound things. I recall an incident not to mention any organizations where a trainer drove around to local gyms scoping out players, and than telling the managers which resulted in a huge fine.
Pitching is the most un-natural, violent motion so any fluctuation in the means of stretching or strength training can be absolutley deadly.
