Could have just put it down as it was hurt bigtime but just couldn't do it. I'd personally hold out right till it becomes a financial burden that can't be borne.

Well done. I don't think I could live with myself if I was too cheap to pay a vet bill. To some it sounds ridiculous paying bills like that. Those people have never been greeted by pet.
