Default Fishing Wire

I bought my 7.1 system about a month back and now after trying it out in one area of my basement, found it too wide open for optimal sound, so I'm wanting to move it to a smaller area within my basement. Problem is, the basement is finished and we never put a rough in for speaker cable at the time. So basically, I'd like to put in-wall cabling, through fishing cable between the wall. I know you pretty much have to use fishtape, and that's typically used from fishing cables/wire between different levels within your house (vertically), but has anyone tried to fish wire/cable horizontally? Seeing loose 12 gauge wire is getting on my nerves (especially since I would like to BiAmp this thing eventually). Any ideas on how to do it or tips on other tools to use?
