Harper's strategy is going to be to hold onto parliment until this recession starts to fade, take credit for the relative stability of Canada against the World and creating policies that allowed Canada to float through this in relatively good shape.
As we've seen before, polls mean nothing at the midpoint of the election.
The dumbest thing that any leader can do right now is trigger an election.
There will be way less vote splitting in the next election, I see Jack Layton as a massive failure, and his antics will probably cost the NDP anything that they've won. The Green Party is a political non entity as long as radical Liz is in charge.
The main battle ground as always will be in Toronto and Quebec.
