With the 13th pick, the Washington Redskins select from the University of Alabama, offensive tackle Andre Smith.

This is risk/reward pick for the Redskins, who desparately need help on their offensive line. Smith may be the most talented lineman in the draft, but his recent issues have hurt his stock. However, I personally feel that he's been unfairly labelled as "troubled", when in fact he really had some bad advice recently. It started with his uncle contacting another agent on his behalf, which led to his suspension from the Sugar Bowl. His real agent, 29-year old Alvin Keels -- a novice sports agent whose biggest client is the soon-to-be-unemployed Larry Johnson -- clearly didn't have him prepared for the combine, both physically and logistically. Smith fired Keels on Monday, and I think that speaks volumes about what has happened. Smith clearly isn't without risk... but he's far from the troubled player that some people make him out to be. He comes highly recommended from Nick Saben, even after the suspension, and that's enough for me...
