With the 4th overall pick, the Seattle Seahakws select Virginia offensive tackle, Eugene Monroe.
Comments:
- With Walter Jones recovering from microfracture surgery at age 35, Monroe is a ready-now left tackle that could start in 2009 if Jones isn't ready or take-over when Jones retires. He did play some guard in college, so could fill in at LG in 2009 beside Jones. I think Monroe is one of the safest, "sure thing" picks in the draft and should be a fixture at tackle for years to come.
- I thought long and hard about Sanchez and Crabtree. I think #4 is a little early for Sanchez, as you would still have to pay him top $ to be Hasselbeck's backup for a season or two, and the Seahawks don't have much cap room. Crabtree is going to be a great receiver, but the signing of TJ Housh gives Seattle enough depth to wait until a later round to take a receiver.
