I've met 5 Americans in 3 months of backpacking through Australia. 4 of them were very nice people, couldn't tell that they weren't Canadian. One of them introduced himself by saying "Yo, I'm from LA, representin'!" and then went on to say how much he hated Europe because he hates cultural and intellectual things and wishes people would stop trying to be so smart.

Its not really fair, but he's the American I'm going to remember.
