Many years ago, a group of us were hanging out at a friend's house because we wanted to watch the meteor shower. What we ended up witnessing is a strange triangle formation of red lights flying over us. We couldn't explain what it was since it made no noise. We thought maybe those were birds, but unless someone made LED vests for those birds, we can rule that out.

Freaky. I've seen something that I would describe the same way...twice.
Back in the mid-90s I lived in Lloydminster for a couple of years, and twice I was walking home (from the bar, but I wasn't so drunk to hallucinate) and saw exactly what you described...A triangle formation of red lights flying silently (and seemingly at low altitude) overhead. I would describe it the same as you, like it was geese flying overhead, except for the red glow.
One time I saw them, they were flying due north, the other time due south, which is either directly to or from Cold Lake, which is about 150km straight north of Lloydminster.
