I am guessing you are on Vista and your computer is going into sleep mode. When I first got my laptop it would do the same thing on sleep. So I changed my settings to accommodate how I use my computer and it never goes into sleep mode anymore.
IIRC what was actually happening with my computer was the HDD & Screen were going to sleep, and Vista is having issues with restoring from it. If you eliminate your HDD going to sleep it should stop the issue from occuring.
If you are not using Vista, disregard this.
