Happens when something gets this popular. Many start to "not like it" so they don't appear to be part of the "drones" out there.
I'm not saying that's what is happening here specifically, but that is why I've seen some hate for the iPhone in my personal experiences.

It goes two ways though. Like how iPod (is that right kermit?) is synonymous with MP3 player. People go to buy iPods and don't even know there is other brands that were around before, or may be better. That's not the case with iPhone's but, people buy them because they're cool probably more because people hate them because they're cool.
Disclaimer - I have a BB and hate iStuff because... because I'm one of those people. I've said I've got to get my MP3 player or something like that to be asked "you mean your iPod" or so many things along those lines. To which I've said "no, my Creative xx, or sandisk, or xxx" and I get asked why I don't just get an iPod. I'm actually getting annoyed just thinking about this.
I think it might all stem from quicktime being on my computer a decade ago and it felt like a virus, like real audio, or real player... LOL
