Let's not forget about Gorilla Grodd, the supervillian ape from DC comics. He was a primary enemy of the Justice League, the same league that consisted of Superman, The Flash, Wonderwoman and many many others. I think it's safe to say that if you're an enemy of Superman and you make it past an episode, let alone be a primary villian for a season, you win.
The one time I saw polar bears in a DC universe was when Doomsday tore up a couple of them for looking at him funny.
