A polar bear would defeat a silverback gorilla every time. The only thing the gorilla has is it's strength. The polar bear weighs three times as much, is probobly stronger, and has massive claws and teeth.

I think I'd take the polar bear over two or even three silverbacks. Seriously, one on one it wouldn't even be close.
