It's not that I didn't believe you, I just assumed this would be a sale that had long since past. I went into futureshop this evening and while I had the intention buying the LG, I decided to pick the brain of the guy there. I asked what he thought and his reply was "you'd be crazy not to get this samsung for $549".

It's last years model, unchanged from the new model (except it has one more hdmi input for some reason) and was about $120 cheaper! He said they were just trying to sell off the old units.

I can't believe how good the standard def picture is. I realize a big part of that is because it's only 32", but I'm still shocked. Enough that I'm actually debating even hooking up hd for it.

I noticed a similar thing happening on my brother in law's 37" tv hooked up to hd. The viewing distance is pretty large and the high def just didn't seem to "pop" like it does on other sets. So looking at the standard def on this current tv I'm wondering if the difference will be enough for a $20 per month hd box rental.
