Ever since I started picking my own jeans, I wore Levi's Silver Tabs. My family were very much the $25 Wrangler kind of folks, so my mom would always give me crap about these $50 jeans that went "on sale for $40". I think she did realize that they were better though, because you could just feel by picking them up that they were a lot more substantial.
So anyway, I wore these things for years, until the "heavily distressed" trend got to be too much for me. When the only pairs of brand new Silver Tabs I could find looked like they needed to be thrown away (the stringy holes, black stains, etc) I pretty much stopped buying jeans. Around that same time they seemed to stop using as heavy of denim, and the prices went down, so that turned me off of them even more.
Fortunately the pendulum is swinging back the other way a bit now on ruined jeans. The only pair of non-Silver Tab jeans I've bought in probably a decade is a pair by DKNY that I found last year at Gordman's, which I believe is a similar store to your Winners. I've been wearing them almost non-stop, and I'm hard on jeans, but they are holding up well. Of course you can never find the same thing twice at those kind of places, so now I'm intrigued by these "fancy" jeans.
As some other people have said though, I don't really want the giant logos on the back pockets, and that seems to limit my selection. This has been an educational thread.
