Well just by simple numbers you're adding 13% more games where things are going to count for something. Given the grind of the season, I might hazard to guess that you'll see a 15% increase in injuries, and as the artical states it will impact the length of career for a few players. Will it be better for fans to have more games? Sure, they love the game and lets face it, theres no shortage of football talent or programs feeding the system. But it will be considerably tougher on the average player.

Another thing is that if the schedule is 18 games and you have the same 32 teams in 8 Divisions. You would have 33% of the games within the Division. Whereas in the 30 team NFL it was 8 games or 50% of the schedule. So would you still give Division winners automatic home field if they win their Division when Divisional play would likely amount to a lower percentage than the number of Conference play games for any given team. Assuming an 18 game schedule would be 3x2=6 Division games, 4 non conference games and than any Division would play either all other teams in 2 Divisions or it would be one Division and than 2 teams from the other two Divisions.
