I had to rip open my floor to do my rough in. A few things that they looked for:

- backwater valve installed. (My inspection came a few months before this became code, so the guy was happy I had it.)
- proper venting of drains
- Shut off valves for the water supply.

The City of Winnipeg's website has some great PDFs about what the homeowner should do, some tips and tricks, etc. And the code between Calgary and Winnipeg isn't that different.
