I used to have a boat load o' superstitions. Mostly on the days I played hockey, but I had a few for watching Flames games.
I still won't shave on days that I or the Flames play hockey. Thats about it. I used to drink a pint of Strawberry Kool-Aid per each period and I couldn't drink until at either the first whistle or 2 minutes had been played, and I left a certain amount to guzzle at the end of the period before I went and mixed myself another mug.
When I played I used to eat 4 scrambled eggs for breakfast, have a relatively big lunch then have a light supper (usually a Booster Juice smoothy) and then have 4 cheese slices one hour before game time. I couldn't let my sticks touch the ground from the time I picked them up to leave my house until the time I got to the dressing room. I had to pack my hockey bag in a certain way, and drive a certain route to the game, leaving at exactly 10:01 to get to the arena, parking in a certain row in the parking lot. I always had to be one of the first three to the game to so I could sit in the same spot of the dressing room, and I had certain spots in each room in case we didn't get the same room from week to week.
Now, I just have to have 7 green scottish peppermints before I play, starting the first one before I walk out the door. The sticks touching the ground thing is the same as well.
It really wasn't superstition for me as much as it was routine. I start a routine and I find it hard to break.
