Its a tough issue because I believe people should be able to drive whatever they want. At the same time I also believe that when lounging around on a patio, or on my porch I shouldn't have to be bombarded by the deafening roar of some dude's bike to the point where you can barely shout to the person next to you to be heard.
Bah, I hate loud and noisy vehicles in general. Sometimes I wonder why people feel the need to inflict their vehicle noise on anyone and everyone around.

I'd take that one step further and say a much bigger noise-pollution problem is dogs. I'm not trying to derail the thread at all, so no need to jump all over this, but a dog barking within a neighbourhood typically lasts much longer than a bike just driving by, and it is a year-round problem whereas bikes are only really out four or five months a year. I'm surprised I didn't get support from you on my thread about this.
As far as exhaust sound goes in cars, I like the sound of a nice aftermarket exhaust in V8 cars. Cat-back or even headers back can sound really nice. Those can get obnoxiously loud as well, but a well done exhaust is candy to my ears.
Fart cans on Civics are ghey.
