I don't think they'd run a comedy piece about American soldiers dying; are the lives of our soldiers worth less?

Well, the US do have roughly 50% (35,000) of the troops in Afghanistan, so its hardly abandoning the place. Canada, while doing well for our relative size (and disgusting condition in which the Liberals left the armed forces) account for roughly 8% (2850 at last count). Roughly the same as France and Italy, but less than Germany, and far less than the UK and the US. (which shocked the hell out of me, frankly)
It is alarming that the CF have to take a step back in 2011 though. However, this says NOTHING about the gumption, professionalism and integrity of the troops, simply that they've been treated poorly by previous governments and they are simply underfunded/manned.
Not to take away from the fact those guys were morons. I just don't think they deserved the enjoyment of offending Canadians to the point of us feeling the need to complain about it. They simply aren't that important.
