The arguments I've heard are that its easier on the motor (no start/stop stress), and that it evens out warm/cool areas in the house.
Oh, and also because I was buying a new filter today and looking at the $40 electrostatic re-usable ones, and they say right on the package that they are more effective if the air is circulating all the time..
I dunno, hence the unscientific poll...
