Hooo boy!
Well I have been sitting on this pick for a while, and not gonna lie I had wanted to save it for dead last. But with the pick of Snake-Eyes I don't think I can! Now when you get close to the end of a draft, you need to make sure your picks are solid. You gotta make them memorable! So I think my pick has to have a two pronged attack to it.
First Prong: Team "Breaking the 4th Wall" will no longer be called "Breaking the 4th Wall". The new team name will be The Autobots!
And with my Wild Card pick, I am proud to select the most memorable Autobot to ever exist. The one, the only:
OPTIMUS PRIME!
Who doesn't know about Optimus Prime? Leader of the heroic Autobots and defender of life and freedom everywhere. His name has been used by every incarnation of the Transformers mythos, being varied slightly to adapt to new situations (Primal).
Whether you watched the cartoon, read the comic or just happened across the movie in 1986 you knew of the greatness that was this Semi-tractor trailer.
His death in the first movie was the "Bambi's mother" scene for boys. If you ask your friends if they cried, very few will be too ashamed to say "no". His death was so heartbreaking that it led to two major changes in Hasbro. One they opted not to kill off Duke in GI Joe and were even forced to bring Optimus back because of the outrage and anger his death caused.
The character also has some very deep Canadian connections. Peter Cullen, the original voice of the character, and the voice in the live action movies, is from Montreal, Quebec, and the current voice of Optimus Prime in Transformers: Animated (David Kaye, the former voice of Megatron from Beast Wars through to the Unicron Trilogy) is from Peterborough, Ontario.
To leave this I send it off with the line he is probably most famous for saying:
AUTOBOTS! TRANSFORM AND ROLL OUT!
edit- I'd been in the posting page for an hour hunting down links... come back and Proto's pick. Awesome
